5 Reasons to Travel After the Holidays

Smaller crowds and better deals make January and February a great time to travel—especially to Orlando

Back at work and already saying, “I need a vacation?” Don’t wait for summer to plan your next getaway. Start your year off right with a trip to Orlando. Here, we share five reasons why you should travel after the holidays.

1. Take advantage of lower airfare prices

One of the biggest perks of traveling in January and February is the tendency for airfare prices to be lower. According to Skyscanner, January and February are the cheapest months of the year to fly. Why? January (and part of February) is an off-peak period that begins once Christmas and New Year’s flights have ceased.

The off-peak period generally begins January 7 or 8 and ends in mid-February. However, the precise dates can vary by airline. Typically, prices start to rise around Valentine’s Day and when Spring Break season gets underway.

TIP: If you are planning a romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day this year, consider flying the week before or celebrating over another weekend. Changing travel dates could save you money on airfare.

2. Find better deals on hotels

The other big expense on vacations? Hotels. But again, traveling during January and February could provide some cost-savings. After the holiday rush, many hotels offer discounts and deals on post-holiday packages. Not only can you save money on accommodations, but you can take advantage of greater room and suite availability.

TIP: By booking direct through Caribe Royale Orlando you can take advantage of the special offers available.

3. Enjoy fewer crowds and shorter lines

This is another big perk for traveling after the holidays—especially in Orlando. With kids returning to school and adults going back to work, popular Orlando theme parks tend to be less crowded. This means shorter wait times for rides, attractions, and restaurants.

In fact, several blogs like Undercover Tourist claim the ideal time to visit Orlando theme parks is between January 2 and Presidents Day weekend in mid-February. If you plan on visiting Walt
Disney World® Resort, you may be able to easily go to all four theme parks during your vacation.

TIP: Stay at a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor® Hotel when visiting Orlando for proximity and included transportation to all Disney Theme Parks. You can even purchase tickets in advance at your resort’s concierge to skip the crowds at the admission gates.

4. Beat the winter blues

For those who live in the north, January and February can bring frigid temperatures and gloomy, gray days. One of the best ways to beat the winter blues is to travel to somewhere warm and sunny—and there’s no better place than Orlando, Florida.

In January and February, Orlando experiences some of its best weather. Temperatures are warm during the day and cool at night. Most days are sunny with little chance of rain, and humidity is low. This makes being outdoors and visiting theme parks very pleasant.

5. Take a vacation after your “vacation”

For many of us, the holidays can be stressful and exhausting. From parties and year-end events to chaotic travel—especially the 2022 season—the holidays can leave you feeling depleted and fatigued. Treat yourself to a getaway to relax, rest, and restore for the new year. Plan a long weekend to a warm destination (like Orlando!) and enjoy lazy pool days, luxury spa treatments, and delicious dinners.

TIP: Can’t travel during January or February? Give yourself something to look forward to by booking a vacation now for later in the year. Plus, by booking a vacation now, you may be able to save with some post-holiday hotel deals.
